Impaler Gold Original Game Soundtrack (Remastered)
The retro progressive metal soundtrack to the boomer shooter, Impaler!
Inspired by 90's prog rock like Dream Theater and Queensryche, but also the Wild Woody OST.
Conceptually this soundtrack was written in 1995 by out of work keyboard player, Smordan Smudess, who took a side gig scoring a CD-ROM game to pay his weed man. Full of self indulgent keyboard solos and cheesetastic synth guitar riffs, it is written like a 90's rock musician scoring a game with CD Quality Audio. It's rendered on synth hardware that would have actually been available to a touring keyboardist/low-budget scoring studio in the mid 90's. Synths used:
Korg 01W | Korg TR Rack | Emu Proteus 2000 | Roland SC-55 | Emu Proteus 1 | Korg M1
The original Impaler OST from 2022 was just tracks 1-6. Streamer and audio engineer, Keegan Ostrowski(www.twitch.tv/9soulz) found the game and showed the soundtrack a lot of love. That encouraged me to pick up guitar again and write the 7th track, Empire of Time: The Builder. He also gave the songs a heavier mix/master, hence the "remastered".
This album was a huge labor of love on top of what it was for the game, it's the music I've wanted to make since I was 12. I created it to stand it's own as a short prog metal album while also serving as the score to Impaler.
The soundtrack comes with both .wav and .mp3 files
