The retro progressive metal soundtrack to the boomer shooter, Impaler!

Inspired by 90's prog rock like Dream Theater and Queensryche, but also the Wild Woody OST.

Conceptually this soundtrack was written in 1995 by the out of work keyboard player, Smordan Smudess, who took a side gig scoring a CD-ROM game to pay his weed man. Full of soaring, self indulgent keyboard solos and cheesetastic synth guitar riffs, it is intentionally written like a 90's rock musician scoring a game with CD Quality Audio, rather than something tracker/midi based then rendered on the user's computer. It's played on the same synth hardware that would have actually been available to a touring keyboardist, or found in a low-budget scoring studio in the mid 90's. Synths used:

Korg 01W | Korg TR Rack | Emu Proteus 2000 | Roland SC-55 | Emu Proteus 1 | Korg M1

The original OST from 2022 was just tracks 1-6.  Then Keegan Ostrowski, a streamer, mixing engineer, and huge prog fan found the game and showed the soundtrack a lot of love. That encouraged me to pick up guitar again and write the most ambitious thing I've ever made - the 10 minute song, Empire of Time: The Builder. He also gave the songs a heavier mix/master, hence the "remastered".

This album was a huge labor of love on top of what it was for the game, it's the music I've wanted to make since I was 12 and only recently could pull off. I created it to stand it's own as a short prog metal album while also serving as the score to Impaler. I hope you will give it a listen even if you haven't played the game.

The soundtrack comes with both .wav and .mp3 files
